Requirements for Undergraduate Degree Programs

As an accredited University, CIU has a number of requirements for all potential applicants, to help maintain a strong, intellectual student body. To meet admission requirements, applicants must:

• Be 16 years old or older
• Be able to demonstrate high school completion
• Have English proficiency

To apply for admissions consideration to CIU, applicants must complete an online application. Once eligible to begin your studies with us, you are required to submit a payment of a non-refundable Application Fee. In addition, applicants who are non-native English speakers, or did not complete their high school education in an institution where the primary language of instruction is English, are required to provide proof of English proficiency.

Should applicants be unable to provide proof of English proficiency, they will need to successfully complete a CIU English course before proceeding to CIU Foundations. CIU does not require a standardized entrance exam for admittance.

Entrance exams are not required for admission – this means that you do not need to submit any standardized test scores in order to be accepted to the online degree program at CIU in Business Administration, Computer Science or Health Science.

In order to be accepted to an undergraduate degree program, students must successfully complete the CIU Foundations Courses. The CIU Foundations Courses are designed to equip students with the necessary skills needed to thrive in their academic degree studies. Please note that students at the Foundations courses are not considered enrolled students in the University. However, once students have met the degree program admissions criteria, including completing successfully the Foundations courses, they may enroll into their desired degree program, and in most cases will be granted credit for all completed CIU Foundations courses.

Completion requirements for the CIU Foundations Courses are published in our Catalog. 

Submitting proof of high school completion may be satisfied during your first term at CIU through the submission of:

1. official diploma (or transcript showing graduation) sent directly to CIU (either mailed or submitted online); or
2. a photocopy of the original diploma (or transcript showing graduation) certified by a notary sent directly to CIU (either mailed or submitted online); or
3. If an applicant, such as a refugee or asylum seeker is unable to provide the documents listed above, please contact [email protected] before proceeding with your application. Every case will be evaluated separately at the university’s discretion.

Sending Documents

For the quickest processing of your application materials, please upload them online directly via the CIU Self-Service Portal here. This can be accessed once you have completed your application to the university.

For applicants still wishing to send their documents to the Office of Admissions in Jacksonville, Florida, must send to the following address:

Documents that are not in the English language must be submitted along with an official notarized translation. The original, as well as the English version, must be sent to CIU.

CIU also accepts the following official post-secondary credentials for admissions consideration: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees.

It is important to verify that all the appropriate documents are included, as well as to be sure that you have copies of your personal records.

Please note that all submitted documents become the property of Clifton International University, and cannot be returned, due to university regulations.
