BUS 4406: Quality Management

Course Description:
This course investigates the concept of “quality” in organizational culture, and how it has developed over time. A number of quality-improvement techniques will be explored, such as employee empowerment, quality-improvement tools, cross-functional teams, leadership for quality, continuous learning, process management, Taguchi methods, ISO 9000 standards, and the role of inspection in quality management. Issues concerning the implementation of methods such as Total Quality Management (TQM) will also be studied.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
By the end of this course students will be able to:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of all the stakeholders of Quality Management.
- Develop and apply tools for control and Quality Management.
- Implement methodologies for process control and continuous improvement.
- Develop organizational leadership strategies for Quality Management.
Course Schedule and Topics:
This course will cover the following topics in eight learning sessions, with one Unit per week. The Final Exam will take place during Week/Unit 9 (CIU time).
